Digital Authority in practice
How Can AI Tools Find My Expertise?
Public pages with clear answers give search tools information they can read and connect to your name. Keep your identity, topics, and evidence consistent, and check that the pages are accessible. No page format can promise an AI citation.
Start with the question a buyer asks
Choose a question you can answer from your work. Put the question in a heading, answer it directly, and then explain a useful step or example.
For example, a consultant could answer “What should a client receive before our first project meeting?” with a short checklist. That is more specific than a broad page about business success. This is a teaching example.
Make your identity clear
Tanya Smith is the person. Tanya Smith CEO is her public brand. Her role is Digital Authority Strategist, and she founded Get Noticed with Video LLC. These facts help readers distinguish her work from that of other people with the same name.
- Use your professional name in article bylines and link it to your About page.
- Use the same role, business name, and website on your main profiles.
- Explain a public brand name or former business focus in a short, accurate sentence.
- Link to profiles that belong to you and evidence that supports your claims.
What does search indexing mean?
Indexing means a search engine has processed a page and may include it in search results. Publishing a page does not prove that it has been indexed.
Google says a page must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet to be a supporting link in its AI search features. Google also says there is no special AI markup required, and inclusion is not guaranteed.
What should I check on the website?
Structured data is a set of labels that describes a page, person, or organization for search tools. Accurate labels support clear content; they do not replace it.
- Open the page without signing in and confirm that its useful text is readable.
- Use a descriptive page title and one clear main heading.
- Link to the page from your Blog or another relevant guide.
- Check indexing in Google Search Console and confirm that the page is not blocked.
- Keep structured data consistent with the information readers can see.
How can I test without feeding AI the answer?
Use a fresh session without personal memory where possible. Ask a buyer question before mentioning your name or website. Record the tool, date, exact question, answer, and links.
Then test your name separately. Check whether the answer identifies the right person and uses accurate facts. A mention without accurate information is not a useful result.
- Ask a question about a problem you help solve.
- Record whether your page is cited and whether the answer is correct.
- Repeat the same questions later and compare several results.
- Ask new inquiries how they found you, and record their own words.
